California Companies Selected by Boeing to Support Aerial Refueling Tanker Team

ANAHEIM and SANTA CLARITA, Calif.—Tuffer Manufacturing Company, of Anaheim, California, and Lamsco West, Inc., of Santa Clarita, California, are among the manufacturing companies selected by The Boeing Company to support its nationwide team to compete for the U.S. Air Force’s new fleet of aerial refueling tankers. By joining with Boeing to become part of the United States Tanker team, both companies will become eligible to increase orders if Boeing is awarded the U. S. Air Force tanker contract in mid-2010.

Tuffer Manufacturing (www.tuffermfg.com) currently makes machined parts for Boeing’s 737, 767, and 777 aircraft. The company released a statement saying that it is “proud to help Boeing deliver an American-designed and built, combat-ready tanker featuring maximum capability at lowest cost.”

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support our nation’s warfighter and be part of the team that will compete for a new generation of U. S. tankers,” said Ron Hamilton, vice president, Tuffer Manufacturing Co., in a statement. “Tuffer Manufacturing has been supplying machined parts to Boeing for 15 years, and we know the Boeing fleet very well. This additional business would help support Tuffer’s current jobs and potentially enable our company to expand and create new jobs for the community and the state.”

Tuffer says on its website that it manufactures parts “of all sizes and shapes,” from as small as the head of a pin, to “as large as 6 feet.”

Lamsco West (www.lamscowest.com) has been a supplier to Boeing for over 40 years, providing engineered details, standards, and laminated sheet, as well as aerospace parts that include shims, stampings, and flat patterns. The company currently makes engineered details, standards, and laminated sheet for Boeing’s 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, and 787 programs.

“We’re honored that Boeing has chosen us to help build the next fleet of tanker refueling aircraft for the Air Force,” said Steve Griffith, vice president of Lamsco West. “The advanced Boeing tanker will support our troops, save taxpayer dollars, and create much-needed jobs in Santa Clarita and communities across California.”
