MONROVIA, Calif.—EazyWorks LLC, a developer of software applications for high-tech manufacturing companies, recently announced that Hewlett Packard Corporation (HP) has selected EZ-MES, a manufacturing execution system from EazyWorks, to support the manufacturing of flexible displays. Hewlett Packard will use EZ-MES to control production in its flexible display manufacturing line in Palo Alto, California.
Hewlett Packard has developed an award-winning manufacturing process for self-aligned imprint lithography, which uses 3D imprint lithography to define electronic circuitry on large rolls of thin plastic. This allows the creation of fine circuit geometries on thin and flexible substrates without expensive alignment steps. While developing this process, HP needed to implement a complex manufacturing control system, which would allow the company to track material through the manufacturing process, collect process-related data, and then quickly modify the process as it was being developed.
“As we ramp our manufacturing capabilities, a manufacturing execution system is critical for us to adhere to high-quality standards while remaining cost-conscious,” said Carl Taussig, director of the Information Surfaces Lab for HP Palo Alto. “After an extensive evaluation, EZ-MES was selected because we found it to be the most flexible product for making the constant changes necessary to support an evolving manufacturing process, plus it was the most cost-effective. An unexpected benefit was its ability to easily handle remote access in a secure IT environment.”
By selecting the browser-based product, HP was able to have its one-man implementation team work with the EazyWorks support staff to get a fully functional MES implementation up and running in approximately two weeks.
EazyWorks (www.eazyworks.com), a privately held company headquartered in Monrovia, California, provides software for monitoring, control, and coordination of manufacturing operations across a high-tech enterprise.
