The new entity, resulting from the merger of prominent Silicon Valley design and engineering firms, offers multi-disciplinary capabilities for creating innovative commercial products.

NEWARK, Calif., and SAN JOSE, Calif.—Acorn Product Development and Elemental8 have merged their companies to provide a highly integrated product development services provider with a global footprint. The merged company will operate under the Acorn Product Development brand, with design centers in Silicon Valley, Atlanta, Boston, and China.

Acorn Product Development (www.acornpd.com), founded in 1993, is a product development firm focused on innovative, manufacturable development for market leaders such as Cisco, Keurig, Boston Dynamics, Toyota, Toshiba, Teradyne, and others. The company strives to help clients bring innovative, reliable, and cost-effective products to market quickly, while maintaining profitability throughout their life cycles.

Elemental8 (www.elemental8.com), founded in 2006, is a multidisciplinary design firm that aims to create innovative products, meaningful user experiences, and brand identity for leading companies around the world. Its clients include Siemens Medical, Panasonic, Samsung, Cisco, Google, Sprint, and others.

Benjamin Chia, founder and chief design officer of Elemental8, said that Elemental8 has been working with Acorn since Elemental8 opened in 2006.

The merger is effective immediately. Ken Haven will assume the role of president of the combined companies.
