Industrial IoT systems from Swift Sensors track manufacturing productivity, utilization, and compliance
AUSTIN, Tex.—Swift Sensors, Inc. a supplier of plug-and-play cloud wireless sensors systems for Industrial IoT, has released its Manufacturing Analytics Dashboard in major manufacturing operations, the company reported.
Swift Sensors’ (www.swiftsensors.com) manufacturing analytics are said to improve operational efficiency by providing an at-a-glance view of productivity, utilization, and compliance measured by Swift Sensors’ wireless sensor system. The development of the features in the analytics dashboard were driven by requests from manufacturers already using Swift Sensors, the company said.
Engineers at a major aerospace manufacturer initially deployed Swift Sensors one year ago, and the success of the initial deployment has led to further adoption in other facilities worldwide. As a result, engineers can now determine the actual utilization of each workstation on a shift-by-shift basis, yielding an ROI of 100 times, according to the company.
“Operational efficiency is the goal of all manufacturing organizations,” said Sam Cece, founder and CEO of Swift Sensors, in a statement. “With the implementation of wireless sensor systems and cloud-based manufacturing analytics, any manufacturing system, regardless of age or network connectivity, can be monitored to improve efficiency.”
Most of today’s discussion of IoT and Industrial IoT centers on autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and wearable smart devices. Swift Sensors has developed an Industrial IoT product for the commercial market using low-cost wireless sensors and integrated cloud-based analytics. It is said to improve the operational efficiency of existing and legacy equipment, which may not have previously had any equipment metrics or diagnostics.
All features of the dashboard are available to Swift Sensors customers through a low annual subscription to the cloud dashboard and analytics, with configurations optimized for the size of the facility.
Swift Sensors’ flagship product is its Cloud Wireless Sensor System, comprising low-power wireless sensors and cloud-based monitoring, notifications, analytics, and reporting. The sensor system proactively protects and monitors a wide range of equipment and processes.
