EMERYVILLE, Calif.—Zymergen, a molecular manufacturing technology company, recently announced the appointment of Jens Peter Clausen as senior vice president, global manufacturing. Clausen, who has more than 20 years of experience scaling global innovation in manufacturing and engineering, will oversee Zymergen’s rapidly growing manufacturing team. In this role, he will focus on building process engineering and operations teams focused on the acceleration of product development. He will report to co-founder, Jed Dean.
“Jens Peter’s experience will be instrumental in scaling the production and development of our molecular products to meet the growing demand for industrial innovation,” said Dean in a press release. “He shares our passion for invigorating change across industries and we’re excited to welcome him to our team.”
“Zymergen has done a remarkable job pioneering a new technical field through the marriage of science and technology,” said Clausen. “I am thrilled to join such a dynamic and talented team with such outsized potential to transform the world around us.”
Prior to joining Zymergen, Clausen served as vice president of Gigafactory at Tesla, overseeing operations. Previously, he spent more than 13 years at LEGO Group in various management and executive roles in operations and manufacturing. Jens earned his master’s degree in MMT innovation and technology from Aalborg University and has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Aarhus University.
This leadership expansion follows Zymergen’s Series C funding of over $400 million announced in December.
