AMBAC International, an employee-owned company based in Elgin, South Carolina, engineers and manufactures high precision engine components, governors and fuel injection components for many of the best-known international brands of cars, trucks, and for the military.

The 72,000-manufacturing plant in Elgin includes a wide variety of equipment for manufacturing include milling, drilling and turning using CNC verticals and horizontals, CNC lathes and bar feed, as well as CAM grinding and hard turning. Processes include MIG and TIG welding, plus specialty welding, Wire EDM, Sinkers (ELOX) and match grinding. Heat treatments include Lepel and GE Induction Hardening, thermal deburr and small furnaces and quench.

The Elgin plant includes a metrology lab with gauge recall, and CMM. Its inspection capabilities include Torque RPM, optic-based inspection, sub-micron length, ID and OD. Its engineering lab includes production development and applications, as well as non-destructive testing, endurance and life-cycle testing, and hydraulic testing. The metallurgical lab conducts hardness inspection using RC, Brinell, and Vickers. It conducts nital etching, magnetic particle inspection, microstructure analysis and hardness profiles.
