The $9.5 million investment is expected to create 50 new jobs
COLUMBIA, S.C.—Sargent Metal Fabricators, Inc. (Sargent Metal), a custom metal fabrication company, has announced plans to expand operations in Anderson County. The company’s $9.5 million investment is expected to create 50 new jobs over the next five years, according to a release by the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
Sargent Metal (www.sargentmetal.com) provides precision metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, and assembly services to leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in a variety of markets. The company was founded in 1975.
“We are proud to be a family-owned business born in Anderson, South Carolina, and are excited for this new phase in the growth of Sargent Metal,” said Sargent Metal President and CEO Tim Hayden, in the release. “We look forward to the creation of new job opportunities for our community and additional capabilities with which to serve our customers with excellence.”
The 80,000-square-foot expansion, located at 5500 Airport Road in Anderson, will allow the company to increase capacity to meet growing customer demand. The investment will expand Sargent Metal’s current precision fabrication equipment base with a new fiber laser-cutting and material handling system. The expansion also includes additional assembly areas and a 1,200-foot automated powder coating system, the release said.
“South Carolina continues to build on its success in the manufacturing sector, and Sargent Metal’s decision to invest $9.5 million in our state will provide yet another boost,” said South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt, in a statement. “Today’s announcement is further testament that South Carolina’s business-friendly climate is perfect for businesses, both new and existing, to succeed.”
The expansion is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022. Individuals interested in joining the Sargent Metal team should visit www.sargentmetal.com/contact.
