SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.—Confluent Medical Technologies recently opened a Specialty Polymer Tubing center of excellence in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that expands its ability to provide customers with complex delivery systems for structural heart, neurovascular, and peripheral vascular applications. The new facility, expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2021, will offer component design support, PTFE liners, polyimide tubing, multi-layer composite tubing (braided and non-braided), and coated wire, according to a release from Confluent.
“Having a strong manufacturing location here in the U.S. is vital to supporting our growing customer base,” said Confluent Medical Technologies President and CEO Dean Schauer, in the release. “Combine this new site’s capabilities with our complex catheter offerings out of our Austin, Texas, site and you have a powerful partner in Confluent Medical to assist with your catheter shaft needs.”
By adding filmcast technology, Confluent is reported to have strengthened its vertically integrated supply chain with the ability to offer thin-walled, tightly-toleranced engineered tubing. The technical team at the Chattanooga site has more than 175 years of combined experience in medical device manufacturing, and will partner with OEMs to provide customized tubing for demanding devices, the company said in the release.
According to Confluent, OEM medical device customers rely on the company for materials science and manufacturing expertise that is critical to the function and value of their most demanding, high growth products. This includes proprietary expertise that spans processing of high purity Nitinol, ultra-high density knitting of biomedical textiles, and precision laser treatment of specialty polymers. Confluent partners with OEMs to create a selective product portfolio, including such complex applications as transcatheter heart valves, neurovascular implants, endovascular stent grafts, and advanced smart catheters, the company said.
Confluent Medical Technologies operates facilities in Fremont and Laguna Niguel, California; Warwick, Rhode Island; Windham, Maine; Austin, Texas; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and San Jose, Cost Rica.
