ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Nidec Motion Control formed a distribution partnership with Designatronics early this year, Nidec said in a press release. Through the partnership, customers will have access to low-voltage standard DC motors and controllers for numerous applications, including industrial automation, robotics, medical technology, safety and security, agriculture, and marine, among others.

Nidec Motion Control specializes in the development and manufacturing of power-dense, standard, and custom servo motors, fractional and sub-fractional gearmotors, and a wide array of motor controllers. Designatronics, through its SDP/SI brand, is a “one-stop source for mechanical components, assemblies, and customized mechanical solutions,” the company said in the release.

The new partnership will leverage what Nidec described as its vast global manufacturing footprint, extensive product platforms, and technological expertise in motors and motion control technology, with SDP/SI’s agile inventory management system, comprehensive customized mechanical solutions, user-friendly ecommerce website, and knowledgeable customer service and product support teams.

“With the Nidec Motion Control Distribution Partnership, we now provide a one-stop-shop for our OEM customers, including pre-assemblies and kitting, from digital controllers to custom mechanical transmission solutions,” said Robert Kufner, president and CEO at Designatronics, in the release. “SDP/SI can meet our customers’ demands for multidisciplinary mechatronics support and products that combine electrical, computer, and mechanical skill sets needed in today’s advanced automated manufacturing and robotics industries.”

Greg Levine, president of Nidec Motion Control added, “We are pleased to have found a distribution partner with whom we can supply our products to new customer segments. We’re seeing a real need from OEMs in the mechatronics realm for innovative motors, controllers, and other advanced components to facilitate the development of their applications. We are confident that our alignment with Designatronics/SDP/SI will fill gaps in the market as we work to create opportunities for all involved,” he said in the release.

Nidec Motion Control, a division of Nidec Motor Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri, is one of more than 300 subsidiaries of Nidec Corporation. Stock Drive Products/Sterling Instrument (SDP/SI) is a Designatronics company that provides custom design, engineering, precision manufacturing, and assembly for critical motion control and small power transmission applications.
