Spirit AeroSystems Honors LeanDNA with a 2021 Supplier Innovation Award

December 16, 2021

AUSTIN, Texas—LeanDNA, a provider of cloud-based, analytics software for supply chain and factory operations optimization, reported that it won the 2021 Supplier Innovation Award from the aerostructures manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems. By leveraging LeanDNA’s platform, Spirit AeroSystems decreased inventory by 16 percent, according to a release from LeanDNA.

Jim Cocca, vice president of supply chain execution at Spirit AeroSystems, said that supply chain optimization is mission-critical for Spirit, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of aerostructures for defense platforms, commercial airplanes, and regional jets.

“LeanDNA’s modern, factory-focused solution gave us the insights needed to adjust inventory, streamline supplier collaboration, and improve on-time delivery for our customers globally,” Cocca said in a statement. “With our Supplier Innovation Award, we proudly recognize and celebrate LeanDNA’s people, products, and partnership.”

Since 2018, Spirit AeroSystems has relied on LeanDNA’s software platform to help solve common, discrete manufacturing challenges, including timely delivery of highly customized products, increased reliability on globalized supply, and dramatic rate changes. The two organizations have also worked together to address escalating threats, such as those caused by the pandemic and geopolitics, according to LeanDNA.

LeanDNA’s platform is said to give Spirit AeroSystems’ entire network of buyers, planners, and suppliers increased visibility, as well as the tools needed to collaborate, make real-time adjustments, mitigate shortage risks, and ensure production and delivery deadlines are met. Efforts are currently underway to expand the deployment of LeanDNA to more suppliers, the company said.

“With a strong understanding of discrete manufacturing challenges, we’ve built a solution that unites people and data to make smarter decisions in real-time across the entire supply chain,” said LeanDNA CEO Richard Lebovitz, in a statement. “By taking a proactive approach to factory operations, organizations like Spirit AeroSystems will succeed in the current supply chain crisis and beyond.”

Spirit AeroSystems designs and builds aerostructures for complex defense and commercial applications worldwide. The company leverages expertise in aluminum and advanced composite manufacturing to produce core products that include fuselages, integrated wings and components, and pylons, as well as nacelles.
