Tahoma Engineered Solutions has increased its production capacity for precision machined and wire formed products

ASHLAND, Ohio—China began experiencing a major increase in COVID-19 cases in March and, by early May, some 300 million people in more than 40 cities in China were reported to be affected by the latest lockdowns. Because business lockdowns have severely disrupted the supply chain from China, U.S. manufacturers who were counting on CNC machined parts and wire formed products from Asia are now scrambling to find solutions.
Tahoma Engineered Solutions, a manufacturer of precision machined parts and wire formed products, is seeing the situation play out first-hand. The Ohio-based company has been fielding more inquiries and orders for parts from companies impacted by the lockdowns.
“Manufacturers in the USA are seeking ways to escape the China lockdown nightmare,” said Jerry Lynch, general manager of Tahoma Engineered Solutions, in a company release. “We are finding many customers looking for solutions to the supply chain disruptions, including significantly longer lead times, caused by the lockdown.”
Tahoma Engineered Solutions, a business unit of Tahoma Enterprises, is an ISO 9001:2015 certified contract manufacturer. The company has built a strong reputation for precision machining, and is known for the precision manufacturing of large hydraulic manifolds and creating custom wire assemblies, according to the release.
Tahoma recently restructured its hours of operation to increase its production capacity. The company now operates four 10-hour shifts during the week, along with a 12-hour Friday/Saturday/Sunday shift. Before the change, it operated traditional first and third, eight-hour shifts on a five-day work week, and added a day shift on Saturday if needed, the company said.
By rearranging its shift hours and days, Tahoma has boosted its production capacity for precision-machined parts and for wire formed products. The enhanced capacity “has become a lifeline for manufactures still waiting for Chinese parts to be produced,” the company said in the release.
“By revising our shift hours, we have been able to attract new talent,” said Lynch in a February release. “The change has provided employees with a schedule that helps family lifestyles, while at the same time adding operating hours to our week.”
Tahoma Engineered Solutions is located off interstate I-71, just north of Columbus, Ohio. Its location is said to offer “one-day access to half of the population of the U.S. and one-third of the population of Canada.”
