EY and GE Digital are teaming up to assist manufacturers in their digital transformation journey

LONDON and SAN RAMON, Calif.—For manufacturers, critical key performance indicators (KPIs) are driving efforts to improve performance in areas like operational efficiency, quality management, loss reduction, and energy efficiency. And as demand for modernized manufacturing systems grows, many companies are seeking to gain a competitive advantage by expediting their digital transformation journey.

A new alliance between Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) and GE Digital is focused on helping companies do just that—by improving their productivity and transforming their manufacturing operations via data-driven manufacturing, according to a release from EY US.

“Software is mission-critical to accelerating transformation in industry today,” said Richard Kenedi, general manager of manufacturing and digital plant at GE Digital, in the release. “The alliance brings together leaders in software solutions and technology services to help industrial companies solve their toughest challenges.”

The EY-GE Digital alliance combines the technology consulting services of EY US with the more than 100 years of manufacturing experience and rich digital technology of GE. It will provide solutions and guidance on ways to increase productivity while lowering costs, EY said in the release.

GE Digital, a prominent developer of software for manufacturing, helps foster deeper integration between an organization’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) and its equipment on the shop floor. GE Digital’s software tools can be fit to meet the various challenges accompanying the growing manufacturing system market, including improving quality, uptime, and operations performance, according to EY-US.

The manufacturing technology service of EY US is reported to have successfully implemented GE Digital software tools for more than 40 different clients, spanning various industrial sectors. Manufacturers can, through the alliance, leverage support from EY US teams to implement and integrate GE Digital software to develop more data-driven manufacturing operations, EY US said in the release.

“I am excited to see EY US and GE Digital joining forces to help manufacturers achieve their business outcomes, building a fit-for-purpose enterprise manufacturing technology landscape,” said Ernst & Young LLP Digital Manufacturing Leader Scott Dixon, in the release. “The EY-GE Digital Alliance will harness the combined power of technology, services and solutions, industry insights, system integration, and consulting experience of the two organizations to optimize the value chain for companies throughout the industry.”

Kennedi added that software supports a number of “corporate initiatives, including continuous improvement, compliance, sustainability, and global competitiveness.”

“Companies want those solutions to be working quickly and efficiently so they can see fast time to value. Working with EY US creates that synergy needed to pursue business opportunities,” he said in the release.
