Through their global partnership, Simerics and Tech Soft 3D enable simulation analysts to use integrated CAD for high-end computational fluid dynamics processing.

BELLEVUE, Wash.—Faster simulation cycle times have become essential to reducing the number of hardware prototypes and overall operating costs for developing a product. Now, a partnership between Simerics, Inc. and Tech Soft 3D is reportedly empowering users to significantly reduce the time and cost associated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation while improving design performance.

According to a joint release from the companies, their global partnership provides mechanical engineers with immediate access to powerful CFD simulation capabilities through Simerics-CAD software.

“Mechanical engineers have immediate access to powerful CFD through Simerics-CAD for digital prototyping early in the design stage, throughout the entire R&D cycle, and across the entire enterprise,” the release stated. “Simerics-CAD enables simulation analysts to use integrated CAD for high-end computational fluid dynamics (CFD) preprocessing, model setup, and boundary condition assignments, in an integrated user experience that leverages Simerics-MP/MP+ and Tech Soft 3D components.”

Tech Soft 3D is a provider of engineering software development toolkits and industrial applications for computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering(CAE) data conversion, visualization, and simulation. Simerics develops simulation software products, including Simerics-MP/MP+, Rhino Flow RT, and Orca3D Marine CFD, among others. The company serves numerous vertical industries, such as automotive, aerospace, marine, pumps, valves, and compressors. Simerics also supports companies in the electronics, eMotors, turbine, and oil and gas industries.

According to the release, Simerics leveraged Tech Soft 3D toolkits to “save development time while providing a quality experience in preparing and editing CAD models.” In addition to offering support for more than 30 of “the most popular formats,” HOOPS Exchange includes an  integration with the modeling kernel, Siemens Parasolid. By licensing both in their core products, Simerics is said to provide an excellent user experience for preparing and editing CAD models.

From this foundation, Simerics-CAD offers users the ability to streamline the design and testing process into one efficient workflow. By combining modeling and testing into a single cycle, Simerics-CAD is reported to reduce user steps, save time, and improve outcomes within a single product.

Tech Soft 3D CEO Ron Fritz said that the Simerics team “outdid themselves” in developing Simerics-CAD for customers’ use on-premise or in the cloud.

“It is rare that you have the same inviting user experience for both platforms with full functionality,” Fritz said in a statement. “We’re proud Simerics selected our team for this important application and strategic partnership, and we look forward to a long-term partnership with Simerics and success with Simerics-CAD. Through the dedicated collaboration of both parties, Simerics-CAD was developed in a fraction of the time, to become a simple yet powerful software solution to address the increasingly important CFD design process.”

Rich Moore, executive vice president of strategy, OEMs, and partners at Simerics, shared his thoughts on the partnership.

“Our strategic partnership with Tech Soft 3D has enabled the development and offering of a comprehensive simulation CAD solution at half the price of multi-software workflows in today’s simulation software market,” he said in the release. “With Tech Soft 3D, we are bringing an entirely streamlined workflow to simulation with both modeling and CAD exchange domain expertise and CFD domain expertise, in one affordable solution. We know that the use of modern CFD deserves a better workflow from leaders that understand the problems and excessive costs of traditional CFD workflows.”
