The acquisition of the specialty fastening parts manufacturer is expected to broaden Spartan’s offerings and enhance its supply chain efficiency.
TREVOR, Wis.—Spartan Fastener, a manufacturer and distributor of high-performance fastening products, recently acquired American Jebco, a supplier of specialty fasteners and rivets. The strategic acquisition is reported to strengthen Spartan Fastener’s product offering, manufacturing capabilities, and position in critical markets across North America, the company said in a release.
American Jebco, founded in 1903, has built a reputation for quality, precision, and customer service. The company serves industries such as automotive, construction/hardware, and fire safety equipment.
Spartan Fastener, founded in 1976 as Anderson Manufacturing, is a supplier of cold-formed engineered fasteners. The company serves sectors such as appliance/housewares, automotive, electronics, medical, and general manufacturing. Spartan Fasteners moved into a new 110,000-square-foot, custom-built facility in 2019 in anticipation of growth, both organically and through acquisitions.
By integrating Jebco’s specialized products with Spartan’s extensive fastening products, the combined company is expected to deliver greater value to customers through a broader product portfolio, increased manufacturing flexibility, and enhanced supply chain efficiency, according to Spartan Fastener.
“This acquisition marks a major milestone in our growth strategy,” said Tim Cash, CEO of Spartan Fastener, in a statement. “American Jebco shares our commitment to excellence. Together, we are better positioned to serve our customers with industry-leading quality, shorter lead times, and expanded offerings. The return of U.S.-based manufacturing, combined with our substantial production capacity, makes this the right time to join forces to capitalize on the opportunities in the fastener industry.”
Key leadership from American Jebco will remain in place, preserving institutional knowledge and customer relationships while benefiting from the expanded resources and scale of Spartan Fastener.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Spartan Fastener team,” said Eddie O’Connor, vice president of sales, in the release. “We are combining our respective strengths with one over-arching goal: to better serve our customers. With their advanced capabilities and our continued commitment to service, we are positioned for a strong future. We are keeping our valued customer relationships intact, and with my brother Pete O’Connor staying on as materials manager, there’s a great sense of continuity.”
The acquisition is effective immediately, with a focus on ensuring a seamless transition for customers, employees, and suppliers. Both companies remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and service throughout the transition, the release stated.
American Jebco is a cold-heading manufacturing business that produces highly specialized fastening components for the automotive, electronics, construction, fire safety, and consumer products industries. The company’s core capabilities are said to “surround engineering, quality, and customer service.”
“Having recently divested from standard, high-volume rivets in 2015, American Jebco’s current focus is specialty parts,” the release stated. “With several secondary departments and an IATF Certification, American Jebco can produce complex and highly engineered products to its customers.”
