THOMSON, Ga.—Custom manufacturing provider Amara Industries, a parent company to the Gracious Living group of companies, recently acquired Thomson Plastics, a large tonnage injection molding company in the Southeastern United States.
The acquisition is reported to enhance Amara Industries’ manufacturing footprint, automation capabilities, and technical depth, strengthening its position as a key player in the North American injection molding industry.
Thomson Plastics, currently operating from locations in Georgia and North Carolina, is an ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 certified manufacturer of custom plastic injection molded and assembly products. Clamping force capacities of its injection molding machines range up to 3,700 tons, with 30 percent of its fleet exceeding 1,000 tons, according to a release from Amara Industries.
Thomson Plastics’ technical portfolio includes injection molding, gas-assisted molding, over-molding, and insert molding. The company also offers in-mold labeling, robotic part picking, pad printing, and heat transfer decorating, according to the release.
The unified company is expected to help meet rising demand for high-performance molded products in key sectors, such as automotive, consumer goods industrial, and commercial markets. Offering strengths in automation and manufacturing reliability, Thomson Plastics takes an approach that is said to align closely with Amara Industries’ long-term vision for operational excellence and innovation.

Besides providing customers with faster delivery, the company’s expansion into the Southeastern United States is expected to strengthen Amara Industries’ ability to provide customers with greater flexibility and improved supply chain efficiency, according to the release.
