The certification expands the company’s ability to meet aerospace quality requirements and strengthens the sector’s supply chain resilience.

HOUSTON—UPG, a specialty manufacturing company within The Partner Companies (TPC), recently achieved AS9100 certification for its CNC precision machining operations at its Houston facility, the company announced in a release.

The AS9100 certification confirms that UPG Houston meets the rigorous quality management requirements demanded by aviation and space industries. It also underscores the reliability and consistency of UPG Houston’s increased CNC machining capabilities in support of aerospace programs.

The internationally recognized standard, which builds on ISO 9001, emphasizes risk management, process control, supplier oversight, and product traceability across the manufacturing lifecycle. The certification was secured following a comprehensive third-party audit evaluating UPG Houston’s quality systems, employee training programs, inspection protocols, and supply chain controls.

With this designation, UPG Houston is positioned to support customers across Texas and the Southern U.S., offering a local manufacturing resource while remaining aligned with global supply chain requirements. As aerospace OEMs increasingly prioritize local sourcing, TPC’s certified facilities across key regions enhance supply chain continuity, mitigates risk, and ensure consistent quality for high-priority applications, the release stated.

“With AS9100 certification, we’re strengthening aerospace supply chain resiliency,” said TPC Group President Luis Gomez, in the release. “It allows us to support customers closer to where their programs are located while providing greater flexibility and capacity across our manufacturing footprint. We’re laying the foundation to support more advanced requirements over time.”

According to UPG, the certification lays the groundwork for both local and global growth in aerospace advanced manufacturing capabilities. This comes as the Southern U.S. continues to be a key market for the aerospace and defense industries.

“According to the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office, Texas alone is home to 16 of the 19 Fortune 1000 aerospace and defense companies, and all eight of the Fortune 500 aerospace and defense companies have operations in the state,” the release stated. “UPG Houston is well equipped to service these aerospace operations.”

Beyond CNC machining, UPG designs and manufactures high-precision plastic injection molded components and assemblies for the automotive, data center, energy, healthcare, and industrial and consumer markets. The company stated that it “supports customers from concept through production, with expertise in complex tooling, high-performance engineering resins, and scalable manufacturing for mission-critical applications.”
