Tuffaloy Precision Manufacturing, an ISO 9001: 2015 certified design, product development, and manufacturer of precision welding products, has grown from its start as a distributor into a distributor/manufacturer with a CNC focus, cold forming and Swiss turning for scale that created a strong national and international reputation over the last 88 years.
Tuffaloy, based in Greer, South Carolina, is a manufacturer of custom and standard resistance welding consumables and accessories. In addition to CNC machining, cold forming, and Swiss turning in copper and brass, it also produces parts with robotic loaded lathe, the company’s website said.
Tuffaloy’s relationship with customers may start with a concept that grows into a prototype. Tuffaloy then turns the prototype into multiple thousand or hundreds of thousands of parts. Tuffaloy works primarily in red and yellow metals, such as copper, brass, and bronze. It shortened its supply chains for years, not only for its own raw material needs, but to reassure customers their parts will be delivered despite turmoil in overseas markets and supply chains. It’s domestic-heavy supply chain is sourced directly from mills. Tuffaloy has business relationships with foundries worldwide for an uninterrupted flow of alloys.
Tuffaloy started in 1937 with a new line of resistance welding alloys, and grew by 1963 into Tuffaloy Products Inc., a standalone company focused on supplying resistance welding consumables. That allowed Tuffaloy to expand into innovative products that include multi-electrode holders to improve quality and efficiency. Tuffaloy moved to Greer, South Carolina in 1985, and became ISO certified in 2003. Two years later it grew into a 45,000-square-foot facility. It acquired Resistance Welding Products LTD., of Blenheim, Ontario in 2009, and acquired the resistance welding division of CMW in 2014.
Tuffaloy’s technical expertise in manufacturing and part design lowers costs for its customers, as does its worldwide sourcing and well-stocked inventory to support future orders. It’s list of customers includes the world’s largest and well-known manufacturers and brands. “On-time, in-spec, and in-full,” is Tuffaloy’s promise. Tuffaloy’s consistent delivery success is based on technical and manufacturing investment, workforce investment, and sticking to the principles of continuous improvement.
Tuffaloy’s manufacturing execution system reduces downtime, it reduces minor stops and eliminated variability and capacity loss due to quality loss. The company’s commitment lean manufacturing, to quality, and its manufacturing system gives its customers confidence in its parts.
