TROY, Mich.—ODM Tool & Manufacturing, an IATF 16949:2016 certified custom metal stamping manufacturer in McCook, Illinois, recently took delivery of a new cradle feed line from Dallas Industries, according to a release by Dallas Industries.

Dallas Industries is a manufacturer of coil handling systems, press feeding equipment, and controls for the stamping industry. Its full line of products includes conventional and compact coil feed lines, as well as servo feeds, heavy-duty straighteners, and coil handling equipment.

ODM Tool and Manufacturing provides precision custom metal stampings, welding, and value- added services such as riveting, tapping, cleaning, and assembly. The company produces parts for the automotive industry, as well as the agriculture equipment and appliance industries.

The 36-inch-wide cradle line is reported to feature a 15,000-pound capacity coil cradle with overhead chute and laser loop control, a new feature for this type of line. A model DRFHDS-636 cabinet-mounted servo feed, with PPTS-4.0-7-36 piloting pull through straightener, completes the line. It uses digital readouts for accurate straightener roll positioning, the release stated.

The feedline has an accuracy of +/- 0.005 inch and full pilot release to allow for pilot pin engagement. It is said to handle upwards of 40 strokes per minute on 12-inch progressions, and material up to 5/16-inch thick at 12 inches wide. The line is built on an Allen-Bradley, ethernet-based control architecture and features ProfileSelect™ proprietary motion software.

ProfileSelect is a unique feed control system that is exclusively available through Dallas Industries. It uses a cam-motion (sinusoidal) profile. This smooth profile is reported to result in a feed motion that uses 100 percent of the press feed window, reducing stress on the material and the feed’s mechanical components.
