According to Electro Switch, the acquisition expands its ability to provide customers with mission-critical substation panel components.
WEYMOUTH, Mass.—Electro Switch Corp. manufactures engineered switches and related components for critical applications in the power, utility, data center, defense, and industrial markets. In a March release, the company announced its acquisition of E-MAX Instruments, Inc., a manufacturer of custom control and monitoring products for electrical substation and industrial power equipment.
E-MAX, founded in 1975 and headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, is recognized for its trip indication relays, digital fault recorders, and battery monitors, which are designed to enhance the reliability and performance of electrical equipment and power systems. The company specializes in developing products tailored to the precise requirements of utilities, municipalities, data centers, and industrial customers.
“We are excited to welcome E-MAX to the Electro Switch family,” said Shawn Smith, CEO of Electro Switch, in the release. “E-MAX is a highly complementary addition to our Power Switches & Relays business and expands our ability to provide mission-critical substation panel componentry to meet the growing needs of our customers.”
Following the acquisition, E-MAX will operate as a brand within Electro Switch. Its customers will benefit from Electro Switch’s manufacturing capabilities, engineering resources, and expanded product portfolio, the release stated.
The acquisition is also said to further strengthen Electro Switch’s ability to deliver engineered control and monitoring products to utility, data center, and critical infrastructure markets.

Electro Switch, founded in 1946 and headquartered in Weymouth, Massachusetts, goes to market with brands that include Electroswitch, Sunrise Technologies, Ripley Lighting Controls, Digitran, Betatronix, CTI Electronics, and CW Industries. The company stated that it is “recognized throughout the U.S. and around the world for delivering customized, application-specific solutions to meet the unique needs of its customers.”
