Centric Software is expanding its sustainability, compliance, and product governance capabilities across its product lifecycle management platform.

CAMPBELL, Calif.—Trusted product data is becoming a business imperative as expectations for product transparency increase. To make informed decisions and quicken the pace of product development, organizations  need accurate, trusted, and connected information across products, materials, suppliers, according to a release from Centric Software®.

This type of information is also needed to respond to evolving requirements, from Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), to broader initiatives under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), including forthcoming Digital Product Passports, the company said in the release.

In August, Centric Software reported that it is expanding sustainability, compliance, and product governance capabilities across its Centric PLM™ (product lifecycle management) platform. By doing so, the company said, it is extending trusted product data and processes across product development and commercialization.

“The enhancements reinforce Centric PLM as the trusted product data foundation for increasingly complex product and regulatory requirements,” the release stated.

For many organizations, the challenge is not creating more sustainability information, but transforming fragmented product, material, supplier, and packaging data into trusted product records that improve compliance and decision-making.

Rather than relying on point solutions for individual compliance requirements, Centric PLM is reported to embed sustainability, compliance, and traceability directly into product and packaging development. In doing so, it is said to create “a single, trusted source where product information is captured once and reused as regulatory requirements evolve.”

“Sustainability is a journey and greater visibility into materials and product data enables us to turn our goals into action,” said Sandy Flint, senior materials manager, STIO, in the release. “With Centric PLM, we can integrate these priorities into the way we develop products and track key information such as materials, environmental impact, and compliance. Having that information in one place gives us the visibility to make more informed decisions throughout product development.”

Centric Software provides what it describes as “an innovative and AI-enabled product concept-to-commercialization platform for retailers, brands, and manufacturers of all sizes.” Its platform is used by clients across the luxury, footwear, outdoor, home, cosmetics, and personal care industries, among others.

The latest Centric PLM enhancements are reported to enable brands, retailers, and manufacturers to accomplish the following:

  • Improve sustainability reporting with Sustainability Profiles and automated composition roll-ups for more accurate labeling and reporting.
  • Strengthen compliance governance with centralized Certificate Management, supplier certifications, and expiry tracking.
  • Design for circularity earlier, with recyclability and circularity insights embedded in product development.
  • Improve supplier collaboration and visibility by collecting and governing sustainability and compliance information in Centric PLM.

“Product transparency is reshaping how products are created, and the brands that succeed will be those that make trusted product data the foundation for innovation, sustainability, and compliance,” said Fabrice Canonge, CEO of Centric Software, in a statement. “Centric PLM delivers a connected foundation of trusted product data that enables better decisions, stronger collaboration, and greater agility as regulatory and market expectations evolve.”

By optimizing product execution from ideation to development, sourcing, and manufacture, Centric PLM is reported to realize improvements that include up to a 50 percent in productivity and a 60 percent decrease in time to market.
